Why in the world would Winfield Weston want a Circus Page on his Web Site? Fair question, and it deserves an answer... My association with the circus has been limited to enjoying them, laughing at the clowns, watching with admiration at the high wire performers, and sneaking in when I was little...

But this page is dedicated to my son Mike, who for two years traveled with Circus Vargas throughout the western and southwestern states... He was not a performer, although with his talent and bravado he could have been a clown, and a good one, too... He was a roustabout, one of those hard working guys who put up the huge tent and tore it down... He helped move equipment, people and animals from town to town, and through his efforts he enabled the circus to bring happiness and thrills to thousands of kids and older folk...

So why did he leave the circus? After a couple of years on the road, he met a girl in Denver who obviously had more to offer... Score: Girl 1, Circus 0...

In 1993 Mike wrote a story entitled "Cages" that provides an insight into his character and shows his love of animals... I invite those of you who want to read an interesting autobiographical piece to click on the "Cages" link at the top of the page... Incidentally, that's Mike's picture at the top of this page...
